India has the largest youth population in the world. Higher education space is a platform to groom the youth for the development of the world and self. Offering the student a progressive ecosystem for learning is very much essential. To assure the learning and experience stay persistent and progressive, it must come through the applied forms: Action, Reflection, Practice, and Innovation. With the social behaviour of youth and nature of work in a process of consistent change, there is the need to re-imagine the strategic integration of Skills in Higher Education linked to entry into the professional world.

Philosophy of Learning Cycle

Designing such programmes to synchronize the paramount energy, excited instinct, and explorative mind of the youth to build the best from self requires an outcome-oriented curriculum, action-driven engagement, accelerating learning space, and appropriate mentorship. More importantly, the learning needs to mature through the composite structure of the following layers.

  • Classroom (Online, Offline, Self-led, Peer-supported)
  • Lab. / Workshop / Makers Space (Experiment, Practice, Project, Production)
  • Community/Field Study (Problem Solving, Applied Learning, Reflection)
  • Industry / Workplace (Production or Service of Industry-standard and scale)
  • Competition Platforms (World Skills Competition, National and International Hackathons)
  • Skill Assistance (Skill facilitation, Training, Mentoring)
  • Skill-driven Entrepreneurship (Design Lab/Testing Centre/Service Centre/Production Unit)
The Learning Stages

During the programme, the student is taken through an organic transformational journey. In the FOUNDATION stage, understanding the concepts, verifying, and practicing offers the desired basis for the programme and specialisation. The PURPOSE stage is meant to self-educate the student on the utility of the learning in real-life problem-solving at the community or field level. To take this awareness on Skills to the next level for perfection, the student is required to spend a significant time in the QUALITY stage, within an advanced ecosystem of Industry or Live Projects, where the learning is applied daily for real problem solving, both in quality and scale. The last stage for CONFIDENCE is intended to offer the platform to perform by doing in a regulated environment to achieve a competitive benchmark of varied skill sets.

The Holistic Focus

The thrust on the need of any higher education system for a holistic transformation of students cannot be overlooked. Therefore, besides Domain Skills (for technical competency), the academic endeavors are also centered around Life Skills (for professional behavior and sustainability), Digital Skills (for relevance in the technological world), Liberal Skills (for preserving the human values and ethics), priority on Community & Adaption for an impact on the local community, and most importantly, the World View to realize and reflect on the global opportunities to grow as a truly global resource.
