MSU Hosts District and State-Level India Skills Competitions 2025

Dec 9, 2025

The event witnessed an impressive turnout, with 265 competitors participating in Health & Social Care and 29 competitors competing in Cloud Computing—reflecting the growing enthusiasm for skill-based excellence across the state.

Competitors underwent a rigorous three-stage evaluation process, beginning with MCQs curated by NSDC experts, followed by hands-on practical assessments and a communication skills test. The competitions were judged by a distinguished panel that included officers from the Skill Development Department (SDD), a general physician from the Central Referral Hospital, Tadong, and experienced IT faculty members from MSU. Their collective expertise ensured a robust and transparent assessment aligned with national standards.

The state-level valedictory ceremony, held at the MSU Sangkhola campus, was graced by eminent dignitaries including Chancellor Mr. Pravesh Dudani, Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr. Ashwani Kumar Sharma, Associate Dean Shri Bharat Bhushan, and Dr. Manoja Reddy from Central Referral Hospital. The event also saw the presence of senior officials from the Skill Development Department—Principal Director-cum-Chief Administrator, SICB, Shri Bishal Rai; Deputy Director and ISC 2025 SPOC, Shri Saimon Paul Rai; Assistant Directors Ms. Pem Lhamu Lepcha and Shri Arun Tamang; and Project Officers Shri Arun Mukhia and Shri Anil Sharma—who applauded the participants for their dedication and skill.

MSU’s commitment to skill excellence is further reflected in the achievements of its students. Last year, Radhika Chettri and Krishna Kumari Mukhia brought pride to the university by securing silver and bronze medals at the India Skills Competition. Radhika is now set to represent India at the prestigious WorldSkills Asia 2025 in Taipei, Taiwan.

By hosting these prestigious competitions, MSU continues to strengthen its role as a driving force in Sikkim’s skilling ecosystem. The university remains dedicated to nurturing talent, promoting industry-relevant skills, and contributing to India’s national skilling movement with pride and purpose.
