International Tea Day Celebration Engages 70+ Hospitality Students Through Learning and Competition

About the Event

The Department of Hospitality & Hotel Management (WISE), Medhavi Skills University, celebrated International Tea Day 2026 through a virtual event attended by 70–80 students from B.Sc. in Hotel & Hospitality Management, Professional Diploma in Hotel and Hospitality Operations, B.Voc and D.Voc programmes. Organised under Mr. Navneet Ranjan and coordinated by Prof. Deepika Roy, the event aimed to highlight the cultural, economic, and hospitality significance of tea.

The programme began with a welcome address by Prof. Deepika Roy, followed by an informative session by Prof. Kaushiki Dubey on the history of tea, tea-producing regions, varieties, and its role in sustainability and livelihoods. Students also explored the tea manufacturing process and global tea traditions through a video presentation by Prof. Jayant Lohar.

A Tea Quiz Competition tested participants’ knowledge of tea history, production, health benefits, and cultural significance, encouraging active learning in a competitive environment. Winners were announced by Prof. Vijay Walia, who appreciated the students’ engagement. The celebration offered meaningful insights into tea culture, beverage service, and its importance in the hospitality industry through awareness and experiential learning.
