Maghe Sankranti Celebration
About the Event
Medhavi Skills University, Sikkim celebrated Maghe Sankranti on 14 January 2026 at the Sports Arena, Topakhani, bringing together the traditions of Bhogali Bihu, Makar Sankranti and Pongal in a vibrant community gathering. The programme opened with a warm welcome and felicitation of dignitaries, followed by reflections on the harvest festival’s message of gratitude, prosperity and collective harmony.
A key moment of the celebration was the ceremonial lighting of the Meji by the Pro Vice Chancellors, Dr. Ashwini Kumar Sharma and Dr. Sandeep Kumar Suhag, marking the formal beginning of the festivities and creating an atmosphere of warmth and spiritual significance. Students added colour to the event through an Assamese folk dance, while the Tekeli Bhanga game encouraged enthusiastic participation from faculty, staff and learners alike.
The celebration concluded with the sharing of traditional Assamese and Nepali delicacies, reinforcing the spirit of sharing and togetherness. The event stood as a meaningful expression of cultural respect, unity and community life at MSU.
